The Give a Card Kit Project began in 2025 with a simple wish. Our mother wanted to use her inheritance to give local elementary students a modest one-time gift of a notebook and a pencil to every child she could.
We talked about it. What if it becomes ‘a sustained giving’ instead? What if we also ask the community to pitch in? She worried that people might not care about a simple notebook and pencil gift.
"So her notebook idea became a creative notecard kit, designed not just to be received, but to be used, shared, and carried forward."
We also had an opportunity to talk about how the program would continue through a simple structure:
Community outreach that brings the program to schools at no cost
Alignment with school fundraising to support long-term continuity
Ready-to-use kits that fit naturally into classrooms, field trips, or home
However, what makes this work carry forward is not just the note or card kit itself, but the steady connection between neighbors, schools, and small acts of giving.
